Pandemic Times is a photo report that focuses on the coverage of the health, economic and social
crisis that has suddenly changed our way of life. The images cover from the first moments in the
spread of the virus, including the declaration of the state of alarm, to the vaccination period in
which we are now immersed. The photographs show positive and negative, dramatic and joyful
moments, which in essence also make up the human experience.

The covid pandemic showed the important role played by photojournalists at a time when they were
the eyes of society when everyone was confined. The pictures were taken in the province of
Ourense (Galicia, northwest Spain), and the small city of the same name with just over 100,000
inhabitants. Ourense has the highest rate of ageing in Spain and is also one of the most affected
areas by the ageing of the population in the European Union. It is precisely the elderly –the most
vulnerable sector of the population– who have been hardest hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
